Ofsted results

6th July 2011

Dear Parents,

I have great pleasure in sending the Ofsted report for you to read. We are all delighted with the report, particularly because the school has gone from being a satisfactory school in October 2007 to a good school in June 2011.

We are also very pleased with the number of outstanding judgments we received and we are already working on how we can ensure that, when Ofsted visit us again, we can move the school’s overall effectiveness grade from good to outstanding.

When you read the report you will see it reads extremely well and the letter that is sent to the children is also very well written. All Year 2 and KS2 children will receive a copy of the letter to read for themselves. The younger children will have the letter read to them.

I was particularly pleased with the comments about the children’s behaviour and how the school tackles issues related to this. Where we have received satisfactory gradings we know exactly what we are already doing to change this and what we need to do in the future. The only grading we have little control over, which was satisfactory,  is ‘attendance’. If we want to be outstanding we need to improve the levels of attendance drastically and reduce the huge numbers of holidays taken in term time.

Peters Hill has only got this fabulous ‘good’ grade because of the hard work, commitment and dedication of the staff and Governors. We always put the children first and will continue to do so. The children also play a huge part in the success of the school as do you - the parents, so a big thank you from the staff and Governors.

Enjoy the report!

Yours sincerely

Mrs R Garratt
